Zero Carbon
A Zero carbon home has been defined with a fixed set of energy efficient criteria.
Not unlike the criteria for a Passive house only varying slightly in some areas.
In Northern Ireland there was an incentive some years ago attached to building a Zero Carbon home where the home owner would be given a six year household rates holiday.
There was also the Low Carbon standard which was easier to achieve and where the home owner would be given a 3 year household rates holiday.
In a previous draft review of the Northern Ireland rates system the Low Carbon incentive was being suggested to return.
Whether it makes it into the final draft remains to be seen
