Their objective was to build a two-storey timber-frame holiday home, powered solely by electricity, that would epitomise the best in energy efficiency and help significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Harnessing solar power, alongside smart energy technology combined with a highly efficient thermal envelop they are hopeful that their home will remain powered through all seasons. By integrating these systems and practices, they aim to live in a fully electric home, relying only on sustainable energy sources, thus reducing their dependence on fossil fuels and traditional utilities.
The coastal dwelling incorporates incorporates high levels of insulation using air-tight construction techniques with optimal levels of thermal mass, an all in one mechanical heat and ventilation system, PV solar panels fitted to the roof, complemented with a 18kwh battery for energy storage and triple glazed UPvC windows and balcony doors.
